Completing practical experience is an important part of veterinary education and our externship programme is a good way of benefiting from a diverse, busy practice such as ours.

Practical experience is an important part of veterinary education, and an externship at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a busy and diverse equine practice.

We offer externships to veterinary students who have entered the clinical years of their training, as well as young veterinarians and veterinarians undertaking residency or specialist training who are looking to broaden their experience in equine practice.

Externships are generally offered for two weeks, although the duration can be adjusted depending on individual study or training requirements. All externships should be organised in conjunction with the applicant’s academic institution where applicable.

Externs have the opportunity to spend time across both our hospital and reproduction departments, gaining exposure to a broad range of equine cases and the day-to-day workings of a busy veterinary practice.

Senior veterinary students, recent graduates and veterinarians pursuing a career in equine practice are welcome to apply. We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals who are keen to learn, get involved and make the most of their time at GVEH.
